anyway get those shots folks maybe it will be easier this round
In addition to the panic attacks on the front end, I usually have a _really_ uncomfortable reaction to the flu shot, and the covid jab gives me less bad, but different issues, which usually means a combo jab is a ~week of seriously reduced function? But this time I am basically fine after a rough time getting to sleep? if anything I'm better than a few days ago

Me: You park your car at the top of a hill. You leave a note on the dashboard that says "please be good" and then you pull the parking brake. The car careens down the hill, smashes everything up, and you put out a press release saying "My car ignored my instructions! It hallucinated! It went rogue!" this is partially a story about macOS but it's also just a story about every platform. you need to know the platform's intent in offering some API, because if you think you can brute-force your way through some unintended behavior, most platforms will just break it on you eventually, or at least (mostly on Windows) create some emulated shim that only barely keeps old versions of your apps working, and can't be relied on for maintenace
this rhymes with the occasional problems that Python developers get ourselves into by running non-framework builds. like yeah the OS will execute your code, and it'll all probably work, but now you'd better know all about the internals of WindowServer and XPC service authentication and mach-port allocation that previously you got to blithely ignore for talking to things like graphics, sound, geolocation, and sensors, because they're all maybe broken now
macOS tells you that your bundle executable is the thing that should run, and when it terminates your application terminates. you're not supposed to fork() or exec() or anything to get to the "actual" app, just run.
of course it's "just UNIX", you can kinda do whatever you want as long as some program is running, right? you can ignore whatever structure the OS *says* is impossd upon you.
except then stuff like this happens

This is a "paradox" that I just stumbled across on wikipedia.
It says, basically, that traffic gets better when public transit gets better and gets worse when public transit gets worse, and is otherwise essentially unaffected or only negatively impacted by improvements (or degradation) in the quality of roads.
If you want traffic to get better, build trains.

We’ve got updated intel on Russia’s preparations for a massive strike. I ask you, please, to take care of yourselves and respond to missile threat alerts. Ukrainian services and our Air Force are ready to respond – as much as our defenses allow. And a lot depends on our partners – every country in the world that has the defensive capabilities we need and can provide them to us. It’s very important that there be the political will to do this – particularly in the United States and in Europe.

So, as Katy Tur/MSnow points out, Trump back-pedaling to stop stealing from the taxpayer directly to create broadly political ads designed to support GOP campaigns to switch to *directing* PACS to pay for them is just switching from grossly illegal to less illegal modes.

These days remain a time of remembrance of the horrific tragedy of Babyn Yar for many people around the world. Today, government delegations from Israel and Germany came to Kyiv to honor the memory of nearly 100,000 Jews, Ukrainians, Roma, and people of different nationalities, professions, and faiths whom the Nazis murdered simply because they were different. Together with Israeli Minister Zeev Elkin, German Federal Minister Karin Prien, Chairman of the Directorate of the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center Dani Dayan, government officials, rabbis, and ambassadors, we lit memorial candles beside the menorah at Babyn Yar. It is important that, despite Russia’s brutal war, our partners are able to come to Kyiv on the 85th anniversary of this tragedy to pay tribute to all the innocent victims of this terrible crime. And it is our shared duty to stand united against evil so that such tragedies never happen again.

President Milo Minderbinder suggests how the Iran war could end:
Trump was discussing the possibility of Iran developing a nuclear weapon and stated, “They could take out a city. Let ‘em take out Los Angeles. Let ‘em take out San Diego,” as the crowd cheered. He went on to say, “This is a very small price to pay..."
The obvious solution is for Trump to negotiate the end of the Iran war by promising to have the US military bomb LA and SD on behalf of the Iranians.
