I picked up a copy of "How AI Will Change Your Life" by Patrick Dixon from the library about a week ago and what struck me about it was even the author didn't seem to like AI all that much, even when he was saying how it would create benefits for humankind. The benefits were oh so vague and the risks were oh so specific. I found it interesting how the futurists attempting to promote the technology could barely bring themselves to spell out why it's a good idea, and seem to have mostly resigned themselves to the "inevitable" train.
My friend pointed out it had a complete lack of references, so it's got peak academic rigour too
