@ireneista @xgranade @MaddieM4 it does bug me when people are conning themselves. like I think it's fine to appreciate the ritual and ceremony and storytelling about wine. it's fine to spend a lot of money, even (agriculturally, wineries don't make much sense, so if you value them, sure, overpay). it's fine to say make-believe things about flavors and terroir or whatever. but there's a spectrum from "cultural activity" to "grift" that is … very short
