This situation is so extreme and so ridiculous (and so expensive on the part of the plaintiff) that it is unlikely to hit whole ecosystems. There will be a few projects that something like this happens to, and there will be heroic efforts to "save" them, presented as valorous collective action. And it will be. But if this happens, remember that the valorous collective sacrifice is being performed retroactively to allow for the shortcuts that maintainers are taking *now*.
