I haven’t seen anyone characterizing the MacStories/X issue as a “tech choice”. It was a choice, for sure, but technology wasn’t a factor. Business was the factor.
Shrugging this off as a “tech choice” conceals the larger issue. People thought MacStories stood with them on the important issues. Now they know that’s not the case, and it’s sad. And X represents everything that’s wrong with the world right now. Returning was a betrayal. But tech had nothing to do with it.
