On Friday, we announced the new edition of Threat Modeling: designing for security in an AI world, and I'm incredibly grateful for all the shares and kind words.
Over the weekend, it climbed to best-seller status on Amazon for "Software design tools." If you think of threat modeling as a security technique, then our choice to put it into that category might seem odd.
One of the biggest lessons of the last ten years is that bolting-on security is so much harder than building it in from the start. And so I wrote this edition to be deeply accessible to software developers, and collaborating with Jim Minatel at Wiley, we decided to categorize it into software books. That's a harder hill to climb: the #1 new release status is a tougher fight. But it's the right arena for the book, the discipline, and long-term impact.
