Consider the case of sports fans. Try as I might, I doubt I'll get much answer to, "So what exactly do you expect to accomplish by shouting instructions at your TV? The game is taking place halfway across the continent and is being played by athletes who live and breathe [sport], right?"
They just shake their head and call me some kind of insult.
