First - take out the batteries. This is the most important step. Many circuit boards go thru a washing process after they are assembled, it is really no big deal to get unpowered circuit boards wet. And just wait a sec you “well akshually” mofos, I’m about to do the caveats. Components with holes in them like microphones, buzzers, and ambient pressure sensors are not OK to get wet. You can cover holes with kapton tape, or better yet, remove the entire circuit board they are on.
