I made some #Strudel starter cards to tuck around our #emfCamp EMOM tent.

They're intended to give people a starting point for play, offering a spoonful of inspiration without getting too bogged down in detail.

Feedback welcome and I can host the lot (12 of them so far) somewhere if anyone would like to download them for use or to improve them [as long as you share updates back!]

Sample runs The first line, with bd is just there to show where the cycle loops The second line makes 8 different samples within the bongo sound play in succession. They all have different tones, and make pleasing run together. Filters Here we’re running a low-pass filter over the saw sound. It removes the top end of the frequency spectrum to make the sound less buzzy. You can try removing the filter function to see how that sounds. We also have .bpf(…) which is a band-pass filter, selecting a chunk of the frequency spectrum, and .hpf(…) which cuts out the bottom end. Chords Strudel has notation for chords. You’ll notice that if you miss out voicing, you’ll get a flat tone instead. Voicing is needed to turn the chord symbols into notes. You can also try: hh oh rd cr lt mt ht rim beat specifies how many timeslots a cycle should be split into, and where beats should land.
