I swapped out the links to Google Maps on our "directions" page with Apple Maps links instead, but I sure wish there was some open alternative that does the job; however everything else I've seen is a joke.
("Does the job" means "exists on the open web, can provide driving and transit directions, and is not 20 years out of date", so no, not MapQuest.)
