anyway, when we recognize that we need to make a decision on aesthetics, some of those are harder than others. we've been programming long enough that often our emotional reaction does provide an immediate, short-term guide.
this was a case where we needed a little time to detach from our feelings slightly, so that we can view them from a distance to see the big picture, separate the fundamental ones from the spurious ones. (yes, this ties into Buddhism.)
