To add to the map projection toots, I found a website where you can do a Mercator projection with your favourite city as the pole.
I knew Mercator distorted things but I didn't expect distortion to be that bad.
My favourite one is the Spain/New Zealand antipode which depicts the UK as being as big as the contiguous US
