mental health treatment should not be synonymous with therapy alone. we should have a workforce that also reflects that. when our public discourse and workforce strategies ignore this, the consequences can lead to gaps in care for individuals without complex care needs, and persistent workforce shortages, despite having trained, regulated professionals ready to provide care.
