if you do your thing that you see as good for the world, as a for-profit corporation, you have made the decision that you can be bought. you may think that's a thing you get to decide later, case-by-case, but in practice it hardly ever is.
if you do it as a non-profit that accepts corporate donations, you have made the same decision. yes, it feels as if that should be different somehow, but it turns out not to be.
to the extent that non-profits make sense at all, acceptable-funding policies matter a lot.
