On one hand, one could say that the fear is warranted. Because let's be honest, if/when the "Politburo" decides Signal is expendable, then it will be "expended" and nobody will do anything about it (not that nobody can but nobody will).On the other hand, the way EU is approaching is it an equal mixture of "Soviet ingenuity" (aka doing it "different" in the bad sense of the word) and arrogance (Funny how Europeans mock US exceptionalism while engaging in the same exact shit. Guess "like father, like son" applies to this too). The former results in the technical failures, the latter leads to basically recreating the same glorified digital prison camp as the US/China/Russia etc. but draped in the EU flag.
So in the end, Signal has its flaws (more on the user/social level) but the way EU is doing it is absolutely not the way.
