If anyone feels like they'd be more successful at decoding social rituals than I am, I implore you to try. You'll probably succeed where I do not, and that is certainly valuable on its own merits.
And for anyone else who's somewhat new to infosec:
Y'know that whole notion of hierarchy that schools try to instill into you your whole life? It's mostly bogus. If you measure enough independent attributes, we all tend towards mediocrity.
If you feel like "your technical depth must be this impressive to belong at the table", I promise you that's false.
Hell, most of the time I'm just glad to not be dealing with someone ignorant who thinks they know better because they just read a 1990s cryptography textbook.
