I'm going to write a blog post about this when I get home: at the AI exhibit nothing works. Chatbots that are supposed to be our friends and support our every decision lag into life, recite a canned joke, crash when asked whether it can access the internet. Claims that AI will make us more rational, solve disease and the rest of our problems are sandwiched between halfhearted stories of harm. Descriptions of technology with no positive use case, only harm, but nonetheless inevitable and a technological marvel.

Next door, a history of MITs involvement with the Apollo program includes a section on the precision and skill needed to do something we thought was impossible: "everyone knew the software had to be as error free as possible."
