The irony here is that I’m pretty sceptical of the EU. The problem as far as I see is that Iceland has never survived for long without a larger power mediating and maintaining open trade and, with the US withdrawing from that role, our options are basically annexation into the US, Russia or the EU
Of those three, EU membership is the least bad option that’ll maintain as much of our sovereignty as is possible under increasingly dire circumstances.
