I think about garbage a lot. Off and on for about seven years I have been dreaming up a chemistry class called "This Class Is Trash." We'd go through the energy & material streams involved in the stuff we throw away, with a side helping of Discard Studies, what it means for something to be disposable, and how "throw it away" usually ends up meaning "make it somebody poorer's problem"
Maybe someday I'll get to teach it
Or maybe it's a book?
