ngl a large part of why the "but what if there were good uses for it" discourse drives us absolutely batshit is that no possible "good use" of the LLM will ever overcome the widespread and thorough damage it's doing on a day-to-day basis. the conversation about "good" uses of it is happening in some ideal fantasy world that we do not at all inhabit.
