My unsolicited opinion: "Central Standard Time" is a boring name.
I'd have called it River Standard Time, mainly for the Mississippi River that bisects it, but also the Missouri, Ohio, Rio Grande, and both Red Rivers, which all form important borders for its states and in some places the time zone itself. (Also, "River Time" makes a fun contrast with "Mountain Time.")
