It was a little hard to tell whether or not Buddy was making a meta point by killing all the black kids over and over the way that media tends to treat black characters as disposable plot devices, but if they were doing that, I think they did a fairly poor job of it; they could have been clearer that they were making a point, to the degree that I think they just ended up participating in the racist trope thoughtlessly themselves.
