some people might call this an alpha release or something, because there's still a lot of ease-of-use things that need to be added, and a lot of standard stuff most languages have that it doesn't yet
but the important thing to us is it is fully bootstrapped, no longer dependent on any other tooling to build it, not even to build the first copy.
it's at that stage where the first shoot has poked its way above the dirt, it's still tiny but its roots are solidly in place.
