In fairness to both HAOS and the rpi5, the RAUC setup is *very* nice, and a great deal of care has been put into making sure you can't hurt yourself unless you really go looking for pain. Makes some debugging a bit more obtuse, but not needing to yank hardware out of its home every time something has a wobbly is very useful.
