as many times as i have heard it, i still do not know how exactly she does the guitar sound at the beginning of SHELL ( OF A MAN ). it is a guitar, yes, it is plucked, yes. there is also this extremely narrow and crisp delay that makes the pluck of the string sound almost dragged, like you have wet sandpaper on your fingers. but that isn't all that's going on and i can't tell what else makes it sound so damn crunchy and swingy, like it makes the intervals positively boing.

it has the feeling like the guitar is an old wooden truck on a dirt road. the rest of the sound design here is also top tier she is a fucking genius
