@liztai sometime around 2017 I was leading business intelligence team and we had continuously developed analytics #OLAP cube having about 50 dimensions (over 250 attributes) and about 200 measures. Financial team over years previous few years developed “mighty” #excel for financial reporting and forecasting. It has taken about 7 hours to recalculate this excel once each quarter of year. It started failing and time-outing and it was a big mess. One day it ended up on my desk to “optimise” it and make it working again. What a nightmare. First thing I made a macro that counted how many cells with expressions it does have. Little bit over 57000!!! My team spent several long painful months close to year to deal with that crap. The man who created it (Alex) was not anymore in company, it was poorly documented. So please let’s stop glorifying Excel works such these. It literally made me almost mentally ill. At the end we successfully migrated it. Then I moved to another company and found another excel beast again in finance. There is something seriously wrong with finance people and excel.
