This is where we're at. More and more projects just adopt AI every day, many in very obvious "we barely reviewed what it's doing" ways, and it's just not stopping and pressure is obviously not working.

And can you blame maintainers, when no one is stepping up to help, they're getting flooded with AI bugs, and people just don't give a fuck unless it's highly visible, even if the blast radius is immense if it breaks?
