We can build robots in any shape, with any number of motor limbs. They are very useful in industry environments, where they can perform various specialized tasks. The function of a robot is what it does.
The only reason to build them humanoid, with generalized skills and dexterity, is to displace humans. That's the function of humanoid robots. That's why capitalists want them. To get rid of us.
