That "ChatGPT is reinventing the bronze age bicameral mind" meme sent me on a long journey to learn about the bicameral mind hypothesis, and while I think that Julian Jaynes way overstated an idea and its implications to untenable extremes, there's a fundamentally true idea in there (that "hearing voices" is the default state of the human mind and most people are culturally trained out of it)
The phrase "the quest for authorization" as the underlying motivation of religion stuck with me, and I do see a lot of profound parallels between traditional religion and over-reliance on LLMs: an unsure, worried person in a complex, frightening world desperate for a reliable external force to reassure them about the correct thing to do, often followed by a willful failure to notice when the advice is obviously bad
