Someone talks about the increased censorship of big platforms, someone else jumps in to tell them they should use some tiny open-source alternative and then it turns out the first person is either already doing that or it would be economically infeasible for them to do so.
It happens all the time and not once have I seen anyone consider that maybe someone who is evidently fully aware of how awful big media platforms are and who's already demonstrated a willingness to move off commercial social media (i.e. they are on fedi in the first place) have already looked into the alternatives and judged what is feasible for them without needing some rando to tell them that.
