The crazy thing about this kind of capitulation is that it's happening in August 2026.
The last time we went around this particular bend was in February 2025, with the "Gulf of America" stupidity. I didn't like the way the mapping companies fell in line with that, but I could understand it. Trump had just won re-election, he was swinging his power around wildly, and it was unclear that anything could stop him. Who wants to be the first one to walk into a buzzsaw?
But that was then and this is now. Today Trump and his agenda are as unpopular as any president in modern times has ever been, and we have a long list of times when people have challenged his agenda in the courts and won. Both law and politics are pushing against Trump, not with him.
So in August 2026 if you get a threat from Trump and just immediately roll over, that's not something you can claim is just you being pragmatic. There are plenty of tools you could use to defend yourself lying around in plain sight; you're just choosing not to use any of them.
