For the first time since I started my blog, brennan.day has gotten a redesign! Goodbye gruvbox, hello moonflower! 🌻

Apt for the spooky season?

Screenshot of the newly designed brennan.day homepage in dark mode with a pink/rose accent colour. Header reads "brennan.day" with nav links for Now, About, Pages, Guestbook, Search, and RSS. Below, a "Brennan's Weblog" section shows a black-and-white maneki-neko cat illustration, an intro paragraph about the site, a pink "Start Here!" button, and a cursive signature reading "Brennan Kenneth Brown." A teal-bordered banner announces a new Collections feature for browsing essays by theme. The Recent Posts section lists post #294, "Kindness as First-class Citizen in Programming," by Brennan Kenneth Brown, dated September 27, 2026, tagged Community, with an excerpt about kindness as a design constraint in tech culture. A sidebar shows Brennan's bio with photo and a Support section.
Brand board for brennan.day showing two colour palettes and three typefaces. The "Sunflower" light-mode palette lists neutrals White, Cultured Pearl, Gallery, Cod Gray, Tundora, and Alto, plus accents Cardinal (red), Rock Spray (orange), Chelsea Gem (olive/gold), Jewel (green), Metallic Seaweed (teal), New Car (blue), and Electric Violet (purple), each with hex codes. The "Moonflower" dark-mode palette lists neutrals Cod Gray, Eerie Black, Eerie Black+, Concrete, Nobel, and Tundora, plus accents Shimmering Blush (pink), Porsche (orange), Gold, Emerald (green), Cyan, Malibu (light blue), and Mauve (purple), each with hex codes. Below, three typefaces show sample uppercase, lowercase, and numeral glyphs: Young Serif for headings and titles, Newsreader (with italic) for body text, and Public Sans (with bold) for navigation, UI, and metadata. All served by Bunny Fonts.
Same brennan.day homepage layout as the other screenshot, but in old design of sage-green/gray accent color instead of pink, the "Start Here!" button and other accents are muted green-gray. The same post, "Kindness as First-class Citizen in Programming," appears without a post number or category label but instead a list of hashtags is shown (#personal essay, #Social Commentary, #kindness, #empathy, #ruby, #programming, #open source, #IndieWeb, #Digital Culture, #activism, #web development), followed by the excerpt.
