Remembering the time around 15 years ago I was in a bar in Washington, D.C. after work and found myself sitting next to a guy in a suit who was obviously very depressed. Turned out he was a supercomputer salesman in town trying, and failing, to convince the federal government to authorize buying NOAA new supercomputers for weather modeling.
