the folks’ accounts on the other computing devices should be linked back to their account on their headless home computer using the overlay network and secure identification methods like cryptographic key pair exchanges.
as much of the complexity of this setup as can be automated and hidden from daily usage as possible should be automated and hidden from daily usage, using protocols and techniques that have been tested and refined throughout the history of computer networking.
