On October 3, 2013, 368 people lost their lives in the Lampedusa shipwreck. On the 13th anniversary of the tragedy, join DAIR’s "Refugees, Migrants, and AI" project for an event commemorating those who died and asking why Lampedusa keeps happening.

Bringing together refugee advocates and experts in international law, psychology, and forced migration, the conversation will connect the human consequences of border regimes with the growing use of surveillance, data and AI in migration control.

Refugees, Migrants, and AI Resource Hub This resource hub is a curated collection of data on surveillance technologies in border governance worldwide. It maps the legal frameworks that shape the experiences of asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants, while highlighting the gap between the stated purposes of these technologies and their actual deployment in practice. The hub organizes key economic, technological, and alternative critical arguments surrounding border surveillance. It is designed to support critical analysis of how surveillance technologies structure mobility and impact asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants.
