we don't reject those feelings. we don't mentally yell at them, we don't tell them, get out, you have no place in us. we don't deny them, we don't say you were never part of us. they were part of us. they are still part of us.
we thank them for trying to help, and then we tell them that it's okay, they can rest now. their vigilance is no longer required. we're safe. we're past that point in our life, we're not in danger anymore.
