Since the sun is going to be pounding us all week, we might as well get a good look at it! Here’s an image I captured from Brooklyn this morning with my Dwarf 3. The massive sunspot region on the sun’s upper half is AR 4478, about 10 times as wide as Earth, with a smaller sunspot group AR 4479 below.

Image of the sun as a large orange-yellow sphere floating in black space, captured with a Dwarf 3 smart telescope with solar filter. A prominent grouping of two sunspot clusters is visible on the upper hemisphere, while a smaller group of clusters is visible on the lower half; these are Active Regions (AR) 4478 and 4479, respectively. A few other individual sunspots dot the surface like freckles. Captured from Brooklyn, NY at 10:26am. Further edited in Snapseed to enhance sunspot contrast. I wasn’t sure if the Dwarf telescope inverted solar images, so I made the decision to rotate the photo 180°. Any suggestions to further correct the orientation are welcome.
