you can just... say shit. make wild claims about performance or security or maintainability or even cost savings. and nobody will check. ever. companies will make million-dollar engineering decisions and still never check any of it.

if I got a nickel for the amount of times I investigated a completely unquestioned claim made by the owners/creators of some popular-at-the-time technology or tool, and found an outright lie within the first ten minutes... I'd have a hell of a lot more than two nickels, and that's really kind of terrifying actually
