okay! another minor milestone: every byte of output from the label transform is appropriately described.
next, we do the same thing with the log-load transform. in some ways this may be easier, the code it outputs is very uniform in structure.
after that's done, we still have to mess with indentation and passing through "ordinary" comments, but we don't expect either of those to be hard
