I recognize why private messages within a thread can be confusing, but I really like how private messages on Mastodon are "hallway track" side discussions from regular threads instead of there being a shitty IM app crammed into every social network which everyone just uses to set up IM conversations on better IM apps. It's very good that Mastodon DMs are *pinned to discussions*, and odd that Mastodon is killing virtually the only feature distinguishment they have with bsky.
