don't tell anyone but the real magic of 9front is how easy it is to change things on a whim. you can overlay a git repo over your filesystem to get up to date sources for everything in /sys/src/, a cold build of the entire OS and all the software is surprisingly fast, you can pop open the source code to any command with the src command, the code is concise, and the man pages have good coverage of standard library topics. i've never experienced this much immediacy to just tinker from linux.
