want to explore who your Mastodon instance sees as a Federated "peer"? try this:
curl "https://your.server.whatever/api/v1/instance/peers" > peers.json
and then examine the peers.json file. BTW: jq is a wonderful tool for dealing with json-format file or pipeline searching/sorting/formatting/etc. here is how to look at an example server and make jq pretty-print the results:
