I guess I should be thankful that LLMs are shining a light on the fact that we rely so much on a few pieces of critical infrastructure at each level.
Hopefully the long-term outcome will be an explosion of alternatives. Alternative compilers, OSes, window managers, email clients, whatever. Bring on the alternatives, and make the politics front and centre.
