okay, this experiment worked great. second from-pieces setup again showing S2 to S4 on my friends' meters where the dipole did not move their meters ay tall.
and listening conditions are much improved using the full wavelength square loop, too. it is seriously quieter this way, and I can crank down the RF gain & up the AF gain & fiddle my way to a more pleasant listening experience... FTW!
