as a general rule, people give money and funding to other people whose ideas they like. this is just as true for fascists and rich people. and it's still true when someone genuinely intends to fund the work on a project for the sake of that project.
so if you're wondering why people give money to omarchy and DHH instead of a serious distro that actually does useful work... you're not looking at the right part. omarchy was chosen for DHH's ideas, not for its utility relative to other distros.
