@pluralistic @owa There have always been logically consistent ways to achieve the goals of user safety and privacy, but each one would require giving up profits that Cupertino values more than any of its stated principles. E.g.:

- remove unsafe APIs and sensors from iPhones, or:
- disallow all third-party software, or:
- disallow all browsers and web technology

Each would address the root causes of the issues Apple claims to address but does not, in practice, manage.
