The problem with Marco Arment's "we're better off when we don't know our neighbors' political opinions" thing is that in any given neighborhood, there are neighbors who literally believe that some of their other neighbors should not exist. Do you really think you're better off not knowing about that? Are your marginalized neighbors better off as a result of your ignorance?
