I also want to mention here that Godot (which is the other half of what I'm trying to do) is the exact opposite; it has an *excellently* considered foundational model, and can do an incredible amount of stuff with a very limited amount of mechanisms, in generally very logical ways that you can get to through your own reasoning. this makes the contrast with Blender all the more stark...
