i’m not going to accuse Hank Green or Taylor Lorenz or others of a similar ilk of being “schills for AI” —because they aren’t. I think they’re honestly trying to process the new technology *however* it is clear that they spend a lot of time talking to people whose heads are chock block full nonsense, and sometimes things pass by their lips that betray the company that they’ve been keeping.

You post that it's good to hide LLM usage and that people should be embarrassed about using them, and then your LLM-using projects will tell you that they're using LLMs during the resulting argument.

It's a surprisingly reliable detection method.

The thing is, Farage is fucked either way. Sure, he will probably win the by-election, but he is standing against Count Binface, a satirical candidate who calls himself an “independent space warrior”. That’s hardly the resounding political victory he wanted. And if Binface gets any significant proportion of the votes, which he likely will, then that’s voters who would rather have a man with a bin on his head than Farage.

To be fair to Count Binface, he’s smart as hell and knows exactly what he is doing, and I (with Kemi fucking Badenoch, apparently) wish him all the luck in the world.

The short version: Nigel Farage, MP and leader of the far-right Reform Party, resigns from his seat to halt investigation into his dodgy finances. Then announces he will stand in the ensuing by-election, essentially because if he wins his (safe) seat again it proves the people don’t care about his finances.

As this is obviously a bullshit stunt, every single other major party refuses to put up a candidate for the by-election.

This means Farage is now running against one other candidate only: Count Binface, a man with a bin on his head.

Clacton-on-Sea now have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever.

If a careful reviewer gets fooled by someone secretly using an LLM i.e. the submitted code is reasonable and purposeful, the general use of language around it -- comments, docs, commit messages, etc... -- not hell bent on wasting everybody's time, and the submitter answers questions with a demonstrable understanding of the problem they're claiming to fix, then fine. Who cares?

The thing is, it's not even remotely believable that this could happen outside of the most trivial of cases without requiring the submitter to work harder massaging the slop than doing the work in the first place. Then, they'd invariably get both so goddamn proud they fooled you and gutted no-one even noticed, that they wouldn't be able to strop bragging about it...

A which point you'd just throw out their PR and ban their arses for breaking the clearly stated rules ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
