Re: movie theaters
Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't want vegetable oil vapor and water hitting me when I'm trying to watch a movie. I don't need extra screens to each side. I like the reclining chairs, keep that. But give me a little table for my popcorn.
Just make the screens bigger, with a taller aspect ratio and if you're going to fuck us on snack pricing then at least get better snacks.

Making a post about "choosing kindness" in response to something that upset a lot of people might be one of the most passive-aggressive forms of tone-policing that I've ever seen.
But completely on brand, as ever.

The idea that democratic socialists are hypocrites if they have jobs or money or nice houses is so fucking painfully stupid that honestly every time I encounter it I just want to quit society and go raise alpacas in the mountains, but god, it just never dies & people never stop falling for it.

@neatnik my last boss criticized me for being too nice to my direct reports. I explained that I was kind, not nice. He didn't understand the difference. Kindness is accountability, support, corrections, praise, the "hard conversations". That's how I want to be.

Kindness isn't just using polite words. That's the weakest, most shallow definition.
Kindness is expressed through action. Kindness is the manifestation of actually caring.
It has nothing to do with "being right", as Microblog Guy framed it. It has everything to do with caring.

tonight we are trusting chatgpt with making dessert out of approximately fuck all. mostly because we have approximately fuck all in and it's impossible to find recipes with exactly the right ingredients for your particular case of fuck all.
it produces impressively sniff test-passing cooking talk. the recipe of course needed correcting, because it couldn't possibly work. i beat it into a shape where i couldn't see it obviously not working. naturally this did not eliminate all of the problems, just the obvious ones.
so given that i have been cooking competently for years, tell me again how i should let it write code for me.

This is worth repeating, since That One Microblog Guy seems to have a very specific definition of "kindness" that pretty much equates to "be nice to everyone, always, no matter what".
He mistakes passion for harshness, especially when he disagrees with the underlying issue (he currently believes it's fine for MacStories to be back on X, so anyone disagreeing is "harsh").
The truth is, he simply lacks passion himself. He doesn't stand up for people. He only stands up for "the open, social web".

Comfort Zone is going indie!
We want to sincerely thank the folks at MacStories who believed in us two years ago and massively helped in launching this podcast. But after 113 episodes of beautifully executed challenges (right?), Comfort Zone will be moving to its own home soon.
This means we are going to be on a hiatus while we work things out, and migrate between hosting services. We will keep you updated when we are ready to resume the show! 💛
